Sherlock Holmes and the case of the bad TV shows

So after years of putting up with TV shows that attempt to borrow the detective skills of Sherlock Holmes I decided to go to the source. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes is the original set of stories about the phenomenon of the detective who defines the detective in so many stories over the last 100 years. TV producers, with their pathological lack of unique ideas, have fastened on, again, to this style of character in an amazing display of pandering over the last few years. Even of late, there have been some title character shows, for instance CBS's recent Elementary. However the best of the bunch happens to be Sherlock, from the BBC. That variant is without a doubt the truest to the characters & story lines. It does have its flaws, among them that their version of Sherlock is outright belittling to his companion for far too long, before the writers introduce some trust. Honestly, the recent movies with Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr get this part right much quicker than the rest. That being said, the book is quite a lot of fun. It is well written, and brings the character to light in some very interesting ways. I totally understand why so many people have tried to replicate the style of Holmes. Its kind of magical, and otherwise alot of fun. Go read the classics!
